Subject: Daily CPS Processing Resumed on August 30, 2011 for Records Not Requiring VA System Match

In an electronic announcement posted on August 30, 2011 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, we alerted all schools that the Central Processing System (CPS) would not process 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 application or correction data on August 29, 2011 due to an issue with the Veterans Administration (VA) system that prevented the agency match from successfully completing.

While we continue to research and resolve this technical issue with the VA system, we decided to resume daily CPS processing for records that do not require a match with the VA system. Schools began receiving data during the evening of August 30, 2011 for records received for CPS processing, including records received from August 26, 2011 through August 29, 2011 that were previously on hold.

We will continue to hold the approximately 400 records (out of the 115,000 total records that were on hold) that require a match with the VA system until the technical issue between the two agencies is resolved. We will also identify new incoming records that fall into this category during daily CPS processing and place them on similar hold pending resolution of the issue. When the VA system issue is resolved, the records will be processed normally and will reflect the original application/correction receipt date. Monitor the IFAP Web site for an electronic announcement when the VA system issue is resolved.

Please note the following information regarding the resumption of daily CPS processing for records not requiring a VA system match:

  • Application and correction data received by the CPS after 4:30 A.M. (Central Time) on August 26, 2011 and before 4:30 A.M. (Central Time) on August 29, 2011 was processed by the CPS on August 30, 2011.

  • Application and correction data received by the CPS after 4:30 A.M. (Central Time) on August 29, 2011 or on August 30, 2011 will be processed by the CPS on August 31, 2011.

Note: Schools should be prepared to receive larger-than-usual Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) files on August 31, 2011 as a result of this processing delay. Importing these ISIR files into your system may require more time and system resources than usual.
