Subject: Issue Alert: FAA Access to CPS Online Issue with Accessing Transactions in Student Inquiry

Following our recent reprocessing and voiding of certain Student Aid Report (SAR) and Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) transactions (as described in the March 24, 2011 electronic announcement), users of FAA Access to CPS Online began reporting an error message when accessing an applicant’s highest transaction in Student Inquiry.

We have verified that FAA Access users receive an error message on the Transactions page in Student Inquiry when accessing the highest transaction for an applicant with one or more voided transactions resulting from the reprocessing described in the March 24, 2011 electronic announcement. Depending on the type of Web browser used, the error message is either "Page cannot be displayed" (Internet Explorer) or "Error 500: java.lang.NullPointerException" (Mozilla Firefox).

Workaround

We have identified a workaround for this issue that allows you to view information from the highest transaction for affected applicants. To view this information, select the highest transaction and another transaction from the list on the Transactions page, then select the Compare ISIRs button. This workaround allows you to view most of the data on the highest transaction.

Be aware when using this workaround that ISIR Compare does not display all of the processing information that is available in Student Inquiry and on the PDF eSAR. Information that does not display in ISIR Compare includes the SAR C Change Flag, Application Receipt Date, Compute Number, Primary EFC (Months 1-8, 10-12), and NSLDS Information (i.e., Loan Types, Loan Amounts, etc.). Also, the printer-friendly eSAR is not available in ISIR Compare for users that want to retain a printed copy of the transaction.

Issue Resolution

A permanent resolution to this FAA Access to CPS Online issue will be implemented on May 15, 2011.
