Subject: Processing Tips - COD System Edit 074

In the past several months, we have identified that Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System Reject Edit 074 (Incorrect Adjustment to Disbursement Release Indicator) has been returned more frequently than usual for all programs.

In this announcement, we provide guidance to assist schools in understanding why this edit is being triggered, and how to avoid or resolve it.

Edit 074 – Incorrect Adjustment to Disbursement Release Indicator

COD Reject Edit 074 is triggered when a school submits the Disbursement Release Indicator (DRI) equal to “False” for a disbursement previously submitted, accepted, and funded with a DRI equal to “True.” Once the DRI is equal to “True,” the COD System will not allow the DRI to be changed to “False.”

  1. Ensure it only submits a disbursement record with DRI equal to “True” when it has verified the student is eligible to receive the disbursement and the timing of the payment is correct, and
  2. Ensure that it does not submit a change to DRI once the COD System accepts a disbursement record with the DRI equal to “True”.
