Subject: Updated Record Layouts for NSLDS Loan Record Detail Report (LRDR)
We have corrected an error in three record layouts for the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Loan Record Detail Report (LRDR). As described in NSLDS Newsletter 30, posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site on January 12, 2011, we implemented enhancements last month to the NSLDS Cohort Default Rate (CDR) process. These enhancements included updates to the LRDR layout to provide institutions with additional data to aid in researching their rates. The modified record layouts were effective January 31, 2011.
We have found that the trailer record in the new layouts is inconsistent with the header and detail record layouts. The trailer record incorrectly begins with Record Type in the first position rather than using Filler in the first 20 positions. This issue affects the following record layouts:
DRC015- NSLDS 24-Month School Repayment Information Loan Record Detail Report
DRC016- NSLDS 36-Month School Repayment Information Loan Record Detail Report
- DRC035- NSLDS School Cohort Default Rate History Report
We have now corrected the layouts to include Filler at the beginning of the trailer record and moved Record Type to position 21. The LRDR layout length remains at 375, the new increased length described in NSLDS Newsletter 30 and effective January 31, 2011. The updated record layouts for schools are posted to the NSLDS Record Layouts page on the IFAP Web site.
Note: Updated record layouts for guaranty agencies (GAs), lenders, and servicers will also be provided. Please monitor the IFAP Web site for forthcoming communications about these updates.
