Subject: OUTAGE ALERT--SAIG and Federal Student Aid Web Site Outages Scheduled for January 30, 2011
On Sunday, January 30, 2011, we plan to execute extended Web site maintenance and operating system upgrades to several Federal Student Aid Web sites. During the outage period, we will also be implementing changes to the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailbox system. This work is in addition to the extended maintenance scheduled for the Direct Loan Consolidation System and Web site as explained in an earlier Electronic Announcement posted on January 25, 2011 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.
This announcement provides information about the Web sites that will be affected during the extended maintenance period. Please review the information in this announcement and evaluate the impact on your school or organization during the period when the affected Web sites will be unavailable.
We apologize for the short notice about these outages; however, it is important that we complete the work this weekend.
SAIG File Submission Impact on Sunday, January 30, 2011
From 3:00 A.M. (ET) until 11:00 A.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 30, 2011, file transmission via the SAIG will be interrupted. Users attempting to transmit files via the SAIG during the outage period will receive an “Error code-1” message informing them that the SAIG is unavailable. Data must be transmitted at a later time, after the outage is complete.
Web Site Impact from 12:00 A.M. (ET) until 12:00 P.M. Sunday, January 30, 2011
From 12:00 A.M. (ET) until 12:00 P.M. (ET) on Sunday, January 30, 2011, users will be unable to access many of our Web sites. Users attempting to access an impacted Web site during this period will receive an error message informing them that the page cannot be found.
