Subject: Issue with NSLDS School Repayment Information Loan Detail Report (DRC015)

We have received questions concerning the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) School Repayment Information Loan Detail Report (DRC015). This report is intended to provide the current repayment status of borrowers with loans from a particular school during a specific time period. The information is provided solely for informational purposes and can be used by schools to gauge the relative trend of their default rates over time. No benefits or sanctions apply to these rates.

Beginning in April 2010, we inadvertently excluded defaulted Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program loans that were sold to the Department of Education (the Department) from the numerator calculation of the report. Defaulted FFEL loans that met the criteria to be considered in the denominator calculation were included in the report and flagged as included in the denominator only.

We will correct the numerator calculation for the next School Repayment Information Loan Detail Report which will be available on December 2, 2010.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
