Subject: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845—Field Office Change Affecting Multiple States
As the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to reduce the number of field offices that process the Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845 form, they are notifying Federal Student Aid of the changes. We first informed the community about USCIS field office closures in an Electronic Announcement posted on April 11, 2007.
New Field Office for Multiple States
The San Francisco, CA Immigration Status Verification (ISV) Unit has closed and the list of states reporting to the two remaining field offices (Los Angeles, CA and Buffalo, NY) has been reorganized.
Updated USCIS Field Office List
All schools should review the updated list of USCIS field offices on the USCIS Web site. This list must be used to determine the correct USCIS field office for your state or territory.
If you are unable to click on the link above to access the list, go to www.uscis.gov/save and click on "Direct Filing Addresses for Form G-845, G-845S and G-845 Supplement, Document Verification Request Supplement" under "Forms" on the right side of the page.
Note: The updated list on the USCIS Web site does not include foreign institutions. Foreign schools should continue to mail their G-845 forms to the Buffalo, NY field office.
We will continue to update you as additional changes occur.
G-845 Form
We are also attaching a copy of the current G-845 form to this announcement on the IFAP Web site. Please refer to the Electronic Announcement posted on December 28, 2006 for more information regarding the G-845 form.
