Subject: Register Now for an FSA User ID for the FAA Access to CPS Online and SAIG Enrollment Web Sites
A change to the login process for the FAA Access to CPS Online and Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) Enrollment Web sites is now rapidly approaching. As we informed you in an electronic announcement posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site on March 3, 2009, users will no longer need to provide personally identifiable information to log in to these Web sites. Instead, a Federal Student Aid User ID (FSA User ID) and password will be used to authenticate a user's identity and to log in to both Web sites. The FSA User ID and password will replace identifiers that are currently used to log in, such as Social Security Number (SSN) and date of birth (DOB).
We plan to implement this change on Sunday, May 17, 2009. To avoid losing access to these two Web sites, users must establish a password and receive a new FSA User ID by May 15, 2009.
Access to other Federal Student Aid Web sites such as Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) Professional Access, or eCampus-Based (eCB) will not be affected by this change. In addition, there will be no change to the current process for sending and receiving data through the SAIG. There will be no new releases of the EDconnect or TDClient software, as neither is affected by the change.
Register Now-Deadline is May 15, 2009
Destination Point Administrators (DPAs), Secondary DPAs (SDPAs), and FAA Access users should now enroll for an FSA User ID. All users must have an FSA User ID by Friday, May 15, 2009 to continue using the FAA Access to CPS Online and the SAIG Enrollment Web sites, either through a Web browser or through the EDExpress software. It is vital that as many users as possible have an FSA User ID prior to the deadline.
To obtain an FSA User ID, go to https://www.fsawebenroll.ed.gov/PMEnroll/PMAccountServlet.jrun,
provide identifying information, and follow the remaining registration steps. Once you have completed the registration process, including establishing your password, your FSA User ID will be e-mailed to you. You will begin to use your new FSA User ID and password after the May 17, 2009 implementation. Until that time continue to use the identifiers you use today.
Note for eCB and eCDR Appeals Users: Individuals that currently have an FSA User ID and password for use on the eCB and eCohort Default Rate (eCDR) Appeals Web sites do not need to take any action. The FSA User ID and password that are currently used for the eCB and eCDR Appeals Web sites will be used to access the FAA Access to CPS Online and the SAIG Enrollment Web sites, when the authentication change to those sites is complete.
Note for EDExpress Users: When using the link to FAA Access to CPS Online in the software, EDExpress users will encounter the new login process and will use the FSA User ID and password to log in to FAA Access to CPS Online. To implement this change, EDExpress for both the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 award years will be updated in a future release. Additional information will be provided in forthcoming communications.
Reminder-Active Confirmation of TG Numbers and FAA Access Users Must Be Completed
An organization's Primary DPA (PDPA) must complete active confirmation for its assigned TG numbers and FAA Access users. Only accounts that have been confirmed by the PDPA will be eligible to enroll for an FSA User ID. The active confirmation process was initiated this winter and eighty-four percent of TG numbers and FAA Access users have been confirmed. The accounts that remain unconfirmed risk losing access to the FAA Access to CPS Online and the SAIG Enrollment Web sites when the FSA User ID authentication process is implemented on May 17, 2009.
For instructions on how to perform active confirmation of your organization's assigned TG numbers and FAA Access users, see the electronic announcement posted to the IFAP Web site on October 17, 2008.
