Subject: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845--Field Office Changes Affecting Multiple States
This electronic announcement has been superceded by the electronic announcement posted June 29, 2009 titled: "Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845-- Field Office Changes Affecting Multiple States."
As the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) continues to reduce the number of field offices that process the Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845 form, they are notifying Federal Student Aid of the changes. We first informed the community about USCIS field office closures in an Electronic Announcement posted on April 11, 2007.
New Field Offices for Multiple States
The Washington, D.C. and San Juan, Puerto Rico Immigration Status Verification (ISV) Units have closed and the list of states reporting to the five remaining field offices has been reorganized. In addition, we have received updated address information for the Arlington, VA and Buffalo, NY field offices and determined that foreign institutions that process Title IV aid should mail the G-845 form to the Buffalo, NY field office.
Updated USCIS Field Office List
All schools should review the updated list of USCIS field offices on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site. This attachment, "Where to Mail Form G-845," must be used to determine the correct USCIS field office for your state or territory (and in some cases, county).
We will continue to update you as additional changes occur.
G-845 Form
We are also attaching a copy of the current G-845 form to this announcement on the IFAP Web site. Please refer to the Electronic Announcement posted on December 28, 2006 for more information regarding the G-845 form.
