Summary: Listing of TEACH Grant Eligible Institutions

Posted on 09-15-2008

Attached to this announcement is a listing of the institutions that have been approved as "TEACH Grant Eligible Institutions" for the 2008-2009 award year. Approval of these institutions is consistent with the information we provided in Dear Colleague Letter GEN-08-07, posted on June 3, 2008 and the final regulations for the TEACH Grant Program that were published in the Federal Register on June 23, 2008. We will update this listing of TEACH Grant Eligible Institutions on a regular basis as additional institutions are approved.

We post this listing for two reasons. First, so that institutions, states, high schools, community agencies, and students themselves will know which institutions have been approved as TEACH Grant Eligible Institutions for the 2008-2009 award year.

The second reason is because under the TEACH Grant Program regulations (see 34 CFR 686.2(d) - Definitions, TEACH Grant-eligible institution) one of the ways that an institution that does not offer a teacher preparation program can be approved as a TEACH Grant Eligible Institution is if -

  • The institution provides a two-year program of study that is acceptable for full credit toward a baccalaureate program at another institution that has been approved as a TEACH Grant Eligible Institution and the first institution has an agreement with that second institution; or

  • The institution offers a baccalaureate degree that, in combination with other training or experience, will prepare a student to teach in a high-need field and the institution has an agreement with a TEACH Grant Eligible Institution that offers that additional training.

Note that, while both of the above provide that the institution must have an agreement with a TEACH Grant Eligible Institution (one or more of the institutions included on the attached listing) not all of them are actually participating (making awards) for the award year. Students are advised to check with the school's financial aid office to determine whether or not the school is participating in the program.

Thank you for your support of the TEACH Grant Program.
