The Department's Office of Postsecondary Education has created a new site through which it will disseminate information on the implementation of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (Public Law 110-315) (HEOA). The HEOA was enacted on August 14, 2008, and reauthorizes the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (the HEA). Within the next several days, we will begin the negotiated rulemaking process by publishing a Notice in the Federal Register announcing public meetings where interested parties can suggest issues related to the HEOA that should be considered for action by the negotiating committees. Information about these hearings can be found on the website at http://www.ed.gov/heoa. The site will be updated frequently with information about the steps the Department is taking to implement the HEOA.
