Posted on 09-04-2008

In response to customer requests, Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the availability of the 2008-2009 Federal School Code List of Participating Schools in Microsoft Excel (XLS) format. The Excel spreadsheet is provided in addition to the PDF version of the list we posted on August 1, 2008 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.

The Federal School Code List contains the unique codes assigned by the Department of Education for schools participating in the Title IV federal student aid programs. Students enter these codes on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to indicate which postsecondary schools will receive the processed application results.

For readers who are viewing this message electronically on IFAP (http://ifap.ed.gov), the Excel spreadsheet is provided as an attachment to this message. Otherwise, to view, print, or download the file from IFAP, go to http://ifap.ed.gov and click on "Application Processing Materials" from the right side of the home page.

Going forward, we will provide the Federal School Code List in both PDF and Excel format with each quarterly update to the list. Our next scheduled posting is November 1, 2008, which will be the initial posting for the 2009-2010 Award Year.
