Publication Date: July 1, 2008 Author: William Leith, Acting General Manager, Application, Operations and Delivery Services, Federal Student Aid Summary: Professional Judgment Warning Message Removed from FAA Access to CPS Online Web Site on July 1, 2008 Posted on 07-01-2008 On July 1, 2008, Federal Student Aid updated entry functionality on the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/faa/faa.jsp) to remove the Professional Judgment warning message. This warning message asked users if they wished to set the Professional Judgment flag after an update to a critical field impacting the calculated expected family contribution (EFC). The Professional Judgment warning message was implemented as an enhancement to the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site for 2008-2009, and was meant to ensure that the important Professional Judgment flag was set correctly. We decided to remove the Professional Judgment warning message after receiving numerous comments from the community regarding its negative impact on the data entry process. FAA Access to CPS Online users will now need to set the Professional Judgment flag manually on records as they deem appropriate, given a particular student’s situation and the fields being corrected.
