| Publication Date: January 17, 2008 Author: Marianna O'Brien, Chief of Communications and Administration Services, Federal Student Aid Summary: Availability of FFEL and Direct Loan School Gross Commitment Loan Volume Data for Award Year 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and First & Second Quarter 2007-08 Posted on 01-17-2008 Federal Student Aid is making available school gross commitment loan volume data for the Direct Loan and Federal Family Education Loan programs. This is school gross commitment data by award year. A Direct Loan gross commitment is an origination with a signed Promissory Note. A FFEL gross commitment occurs when the GA guarantees a loan. The attached spreadsheet is in Microsoft Excel format. There are eight file tabs within this Excel file. Four files are Direct Loans for each award year, and four files are FFEL for each award year. In addition to Award Year 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 data being updated, and first quarter for 2007-08, we have added data for second quarter 2007-08. We now have a mailbox for Q&As and that email address is attached to the file, as well as below, so our customers can easily see where to send their questions. Each file contains the following data:
