Summary: 2008-2009 CPS Web Demonstration Site – Availability Update

Posted on 12-04-2007

As we described in an electronic announcement posted on November 30, 2007 to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site (http://ifap.ed.gov), there has been a brief delay in the release of the 2008-2009 Central Processing System (CPS) Web Demonstration (demo) site. The Web site was originally scheduled to be available on Monday, December 3, 2007. We told you in our electronic announcement last week that we would post a follow-up announcement on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, to let you know when the site will be available for your use.

This announcement is to let you know that the 2008-2009 CPS Web demo site (http://fafsademo.test.ed.gov) will be available for use beginning on Wednesday, December 5, 2007.

Most of the features of the production versions of FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online (including Return of Title IV Funds) are available on the demo site, which is preloaded with test data for your use.

The FAFSA on the Web demo site can be used to demonstrate electronic applications to parents and students or as an aid in training financial aid administrators to help students complete electronic applications. Financial aid administrators can also use the Web site to become familiar with FAA Access to CPS Online and train their staff to use the system.

Note: As an enhancement for 2008-2009, we will add a demo version of the 2008-2009 ISIR Analysis Tool to the FAA Access to CPS Online demo site in February 2008. This demo site will enable schools interested in using the ISIR Analysis Tool to examine features such as standard and ad hoc report generation in a mock-production environment.

Additional information regarding the CPS Web demo site, including login information, can be found in the 2008-2009 CPS Test System User Guide, available for download in PDF format from the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov, under “Technical References and Guides.”

If You Have Questions

Please be aware that Federal Student Aid is still testing the 2008-2009 FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online Web sites. As a result, until testing is fully completed you may encounter issues when using the demo versions of these products.
