Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the posting of the EDExpress for Windows 2008-2009 Packaging Technical Reference in PDF format on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.

The 2008-2009 Packaging Technical Reference provides instructions and record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to integrate their own software or systems with the EDExpress for Windows 2008-2009 Packaging module (available January 2008). Record layouts are included for all imports from external systems, such as Packaging Import External Add, Packaging Import External Change, and Packaging Import Add Funds. Packaging module setup guidance and setup worksheets are also provided.

Note: The record layouts in this posted version of the 2008-2009 Packaging Technical Reference continue to include the Low Tuition field, which was used in prior cycles to package Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) funds according to the “Alternate” Pell Grant Payment and Disbursement Schedules. As explained in the October 12, 2007 electronic announcement posted to the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov, the Alternate Schedules can no longer be used to calculate Pell Grant awards, retroactive to the 2007-2008 award year. We will publish additional guidance regarding the Low Tuition field in the EDExpress 2008-2009 software in the near future.

The 2008-2009 Packaging Technical Reference is available in the “Technical References and Guides” section of the FSAdownload Web site.
