Summary: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845-New Field Office for Schools in Washington State

This electronic announcement has been superceded by the electronic announcement posted 10/19/07 titled:"Summary: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845-- Field Office Changes Affecting Multiple States."

Posted on 09-12-2007

As the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) gradually reduces the number of field offices that process the Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845 form, they are notifying Federal Student Aid of the changes. We first informed the community about USCIS field office closures in an Electronic Announcement posted on April 11, 2007.

New Field Office for Schools in Washington State

Effective September 1, 2007, the Seattle, WA Immigration Status Verification (ISV) Unit no longer exists. Manual G-845 cases are now being handled by the Los Angeles, CA field office. Schools in the state of Washington that previously sent G-845 forms to Seattle will now send the forms to:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
300 N. Los Angeles Street, B120
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Attention: Immigration Status Verifier

This is the only field office that has changed at this writing. We will continue to update you as additional changes occur.

Updated USCIS Field Office List

The office to which a school submits the new G-845 form depends on the state or territory, and sometimes the county, in which the school is located. The USCIS has provided Federal Student Aid with a chart listing the field offices that oversee each state, territory, and/or county, and the addresses for those offices. We have updated the USCIS field office list and it is provided as an attachment to this announcement on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.

Use Attachment A to determine the field office and address to which you will send the new G-845 form, based on the location of your school.

New G-845 Form

We are also attaching a copy of the new G-845 form as Attachment B to this announcement on the IFAP Web site. Please refer to the Electronic Announcement posted on December 28, 2006 for more information regarding the new G-845 form.
