Summary: Clarification of Procedures for NSLDS Online Enrollment

Posted on 07-16-2007

This announcement provides clarification to an Electronic Announcement that was posted to IFAP on June 29, 2007 regarding the Reopening of NSLDS Online Enrollment. While the information in the June 29 announcement was accurate, we want to remind organizations (other than schools) that, in addition to using the SAIG Enrollment site to add users, they must comply with the instructions provided to them in a letter from the Department regarding reinstatement of NSLDS web access. Those instructions provided that the organization must submit a User Request Spreadsheet and an NSLDS Access Certification before NSLDS web access will be approved.

Because we have enrolled persons included on all initial User Request Spreadsheets that were submitted to the Department by FFEL guaranty agencies and lenders, there is no need to use the SAIG Enrollment Site for those persons. However, the agency's or lender's primary DPA must use the SAIG Enrollment Site to enroll persons included on subsequent spreadsheets submitted to the Department. A State grant agency must use the SAIG Enrollment Site to enroll persons included on both its initial User Request Spreadsheet and on any subsequent spreadsheet. We will only review requests for access once such persons are included on a spreadsheet that has been submitted to the Department per the instructions in the letter.

For all entities, all required signature pages from the online enrollment must be sent to the address included on the enrollment site. Also, note that, while organizations may submit subsequent User Request Spreadsheets, only one NSLDS Access Certification is required.
