Summary: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845-New Field Office for Schools in Iowa and Nebraska

This electronic announcement has been superceded by the electronic announcement posted 08/31/07 titled:"Summary: Update on USCIS Field Offices for Submission of Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845-- New Field Offices for Schools in Utah, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Ohio."

Posted on 05-22-2007

As the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) gradually reduces the number of field offices that process the Immigration Status/Document Verification Request, G-845, form, they are notifying Federal Student Aid of the changes. We first informed the community about USCIS field office closures in an Electronic Announcement posted on April 11, 2007.

Effective May 1, 2007, the Omaha, NE Immigration Status Verification (ISV) Unit no longer exists. Automated and G-845 cases are now being handled by the Dallas, TX field office. Schools in Iowa and Nebraska that previously sent G-845 forms to Omaha will now send the forms to:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
8101 North Stemmons Freeway
Dallas, TX 75247
Attention: Immigration Status Verifier

This is the only field office that has changed at this writing. We will continue to update you as additional changes occur.

The office to which a school will submit the new G-845 form will depend on the state or territory, and sometimes the county, in which the school is located. The USCIS has provided Federal Student Aid with a chart listing the field offices that will oversee each state, territory, and/or county, and the addresses for those offices. We are updating the DHS field office list and reposting it on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.

Attachment A to this announcement contains the updated information. Use Attachment A to determine the field office to which you will send the new G-845 form, based on the location of your school, and the address of the applicable office.

We are also attaching a copy of the new G-845 form as Attachment B to this announcement. Please refer to the Electronic Announcement posted on December 28, 2006 for more information regarding the new G-845 form.

As usual, these attachments are only available from the electronic announcement posted on the IFAP Web site , not from the associated network message we send to schools’ Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailboxes.

We are posting the updated field office listing and the new G-845 form on our IFAP Web site so that schools have the most current information. Once these documents have been posted on the USCIS Web site , we will no longer provide updates related to these documents.

If you have any questions about the updated field office listing or the new G-845 form, please contact the Research and Customer Care Center (RCCC) at 800/433-7327 or by fax at 202/275-5532. You can also e-mail the RCCC at fsa.customer.support@ed.gov. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
