Summary: Availability of May 2007 Update to 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference

Posted on 05-18-2007

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the availability of the May 2007 update to the 2007-2008 Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Technical Reference. The EDE Technical Reference provides record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the U.S. Department of Education's application processing system to process student financial aid applications. Section 5 includes a sample 2007-2008 Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) and other print-specific guidance.

The May 2007 update to the 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference includes revisions to the sample ISIR in Section 5 (Printing) to reflect changes to the maximum 2007-2008 Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) award. In an Electronic Announcement posted on February 27, 2007, we announced that the Revised Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2007, (P.L. 110-5), establishes the maximum Pell Grant award for the 2007-2008 Award Year at $4,310 and, with the minimum award continuing to be $400, sets the maximum Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that a student may have to be eligible to receive a Pell Grant at 4110.

In this update, we have also clarified the valid field content for the Reject Reason Codes in Section 3 (Record Layouts) of the 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference.

The updated 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference, including a tracking log of changes, is available in PDF format on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov.
