Summary: Delay in Full Implementation of Security Architecture for eCampus-Based Web Site Access

Posted on 01-22-2007

As we informed you in Dear Colleague Letter CB-06-14, dated October 25, 2006, and again in an Electronic Announcement posted on January 12, 2007, we are implementing a new authentication method for the eCampus-Based (eCB) system. In these communications, we announced that beginning Monday, January 22, 2007, you would no longer be able to access the eCB system using a PIN for authentication and, instead, you would access the eCB system through a Security Architecture using a user id and password for authentication. At this time, we must report a delay in the full implementation of Security Architecture for accessing the eCB system.

What this means to you:

  • If you have registered to access eCB using the pilot url https://www.pilot.cbfisap.ed.gov, you can still access eCB using this url and entering your user id and password for authentication.
  • If you have not registered to access eCB using the pilot url above, you can still access eCB using http://www.cbfisap.ed.gov and entering the PIN and TG number assigned to you for authentication.

Note: We encourage you to register to access eCB using the pilot url above so that when we fully implement Security Architecture, you will already have your user id and password.

We are currently developing a revised schedule for full implementation of Security Architecture. We will notify you of the new implementation date as soon as possible.

We apologize for this implementation delay and appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions about this announcement, contact the Campus-Based Call Center at 877/801-7168. Customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. (ET). You may also e-mail CBFOB@ed.gov.
