| Publication Date: December 14, 2006 Author: Jeff Baker, Director Policy Liaison and Implementation, Federal Student Aid Summary: Federal Register Notice on Negotiated Rulemaking Posted on 12-14-2006 On December 8, 2006 a Notice was published in the Federal Register Notice announcing that the Secretary has established a negotiated rulemaking committee to develop proposed regulations for the Federal student loan programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and that she intends to establish additional negotiated rulemaking committees in the near future. The notice also announced that the Secretary has reopened her request for nominations of individual negotiators to serve on these additional committees.
