Posted on 11-09-2006

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the posting of the final draft of the 2007-2008 Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Technical Reference. The EDE Technical Reference provides record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the U.S. Department of Education's application processing system to process student financial aid applications.

The final draft adds 2007-2008 versions of Section 1 (Overview), Section 2 (EDE Processing), and the full Section 4 (Processing Codes). Updated versions of Section 3 (Record Layouts) and the ISIR Cross Reference (now part of Section 4), which have been modified from the drafts posted in August 2006, are also included in this posting.

Note: We will update the 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference in the coming weeks to add Section 5 (Printing), which includes a sample 2007-2008 ISIR and other print-specific guidance.

The 2007-2008 EDE Technical Reference is available in PDF format on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov.
