Posted on 10-26-2006

Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the posting of the 2007-2008 CPS Test System User Guide in PDF format on the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.

The CPS Test System User Guide describes the Central Processing System (CPS) Test System, which is designed to allow schools to test electronic application and/or correction data from their systems with the CPS. Test files of application records and matching Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) are available for use during testing. As an alternative, schools can submit application and renewal records they have created to match the school's expected results. The CPS Test System will be available the week of November 20, 2006.

Note: If changes to the CPS occur between the date the 2007-2008 CPS Test System becomes available and January 2, 2007 (the date the CPS system begins processing 2007-2008 data), the changes will be incorporated into the test system as they are identified and resolved. Changes to the CPS will be noted on the Issues Log posted on the FSAdownload Web site.

The CPS Test System also has demonstration versions of FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online. The 2007-2008 Web demo site will be available on December 3, 2006. Please refer to the User Guide for more details.

The CPS Test System User Guide, along with a file of test application data and its corresponding test ISIR file, is available in the “Technical References and Guides” section of the FSAdownload Web site.
