The Audio Guide contains a 60-minute overview of the Department's federal student aid programs and the federal student aid life cycle including -Eligibility criteria -Application procedures -Notification of results -Loan repayment options -Deferment and cancellation provisions
The Audio Guide also provides information on nonfederal sources of aid. Students can listen to the Audio Guide online at www.studentaid.ed.gov/audioguide. The following federal student aid print publications are available online through the use of a screen reader. Students use the FAFSA to apply for the Department's federal student aid programs. Although the Braille FAFSA cannot be submitted, students may use it as a reference aid. They can use the Braille FAFSA as a guide when they apply on paper, or they can use the new Braille FAFSA on the Web Worksheet as a guide when they apply online. This publication, new this year, combines our previous publications (The Student Guide, which provided more comprehensive information to high school seniors and those students enrolled beyond high school, and Funding Your Education, which was targeted to junior and senior high school students and their parents). This new publication provides a single, comprehensive, and user-friendly resource on student financial aid from the US Department of Education that is designed for use at every stage of the student's financial aid lifecycle. The guide covers the three major forms of student financial aid available: grants, loans, and work-study and explains these programs in detail, including how to apply, and also includes sources of nonfederal aid.
