Summary: Upcoming Distribution of DPA and FAA Rosters

Posted on 02-01-2006

Federal Student Aid and CPS/SAIG Technical Support will be sending two reports through the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) designed to assist you in managing your TG numbers and your staff's access to Federal Student Aid secure data systems.

The first report is a Destination Point Administrator (DPA) Roster and the second report is a Financial Aid Administrator (FAA) Roster.

We are sending these reports to inform organizations about which of their employees currently possess TG numbers and/or are currently enrolled for FAA Access. The DPA Roster will be sent under the message class of DPARSTRS and the FAA Roster will be sent under the message class of FAARSTRS.

If you find destination points on either roster that need to be deleted, or FAAs whose access needs to be removed, you can make the changes on the SAIG Enrollment site (http://FSAwebenroll.ed.gov). Procedures for deleting each type of access are provided at the end of this message.

DPA Roster

During the week of February 19, 2006, Federal Student Aid will place a DPA Roster in all "Primary" TG number mailboxes. The Primary TG Number is defined as the first TG number that was created for an organization-it is not necessarily the one that the organization uses to send and receive files. To retrieve your Primary TG Number, log in to the "Review Your Organization's Mailboxes" feature on the SAIG Enrollment site (http://FSAwebenroll.ed.gov).

After the DPA Roster is placed in your Primary TG Number mailbox, download the file with your EDconnect software by either performing a "receive all data" request or by selecting to receive the DPARSTRS message class. After you have downloaded the file, the DPA Roster will appear in your EDconnect Activity Log under the message class of DPARSTRS. You can print the file directly from your Activity Log or by using a text editor such as Microsoft Word. To print the file from the Activity Log, double-click on the file name in the File Name field. EDconnect will display the file in a text format so that you can easily print it.

The printed DPA Roster will contain the following information:

1. Customer Number: This number was created when the first (Primary) TG number was assigned to your organization.

2. Organization Name: This is the name that your organization provided when you enrolled with SAIG.

3. Primary TG Number: This is typically the first TG number created for your organization. It may or may not be the TG number that transmits data for your organization.

4. Destination Point Name: This is the name on file for your Primary TG Number.

5. Destination Point Administrator: This is the name of the employee who is on file as the owner of your Primary TG Number.

6. Secondary Destination Point Administrator: This is the name of the employee who is the backup person for the DPA of your Primary TG Number.

7. Below all the above information will appear a list of all the active TG numbers that CPS/SAIG Technical Support has on file for your organization along with the services we have on file for each TG number.

FAA Roster

During the week of March 5, 2006, Federal Student Aid will place an FAA Roster in all mailboxes that send and receive files for the Central Processing System (CPS) or for FISAP with FAA Access users. To find out which of your TG numbers transmits these files, log in to the "Review Your Organization's Mailboxes" feature on the SAIG Enrollment site (http://FSAwebenroll.ed.gov). If you transmit your CPS and FISAP files with the same TG number, your organization will only receive one FAA Roster. If your organization is enrolled for CPS and FISAP services under different TG numbers, then your organization will receive separate FAA Rosters. The file will display all of the employees enrolled for either CPS or FISAP FAA Access at your organization.

After the FAA Roster is placed in your mailbox (es), download the file with your EDconnect software by either performing a "receive all data" request or by selecting to receive the FAARSTRS message class. The FAA Roster will appear in your EDconnect Activity Log under the message class of FAARSTRS. You can print the file directly from your Activity Log or via a text editor such as Microsoft Word. To print the file from the Activity Log, double-click the file name in the File Name field and EDconnect will display the file in a text format so that you can easily print it.

The printed FAA Roster will display the following information:

1. TG Number: This is the TG number that transmits CPS and/or FISAP files for your organization.

2. Destination Point Name: This is the name of your organization that is enrolled for CPS and/or FISAP files.
3. Destination Point Administrator: This is the name of the employee who is the owner of the TG number that is enrolled for CPS and/or FISAP files at your organization.

4. Secondary Destination Point Administrator: This is the name of the employee who is on file as the backup person for the DPA of the TG number that is enrolled for CPS and/or FISAP services.

5. All the active FAA Users we have on file for your organization: These are your employees who are currently enrolled for CPS and/or FISAP FAA Access. The owner of the TG number will not be listed as an FAA User. Some organizations will not have any FAA Users listed because only the DPA at that organization is currently enrolled for FAA Access.

6. Below all the above information will appear the FAA Access Service in which each FAA User is currently enrolled.
