Summary: Issue Alert: Return of Title IV Funds Web Site - Notification Tracking Pages Not Allowing Entry of 2006 Dates
Posted on 02-01-2006
We would like to alert all users of the Web version of Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4) to an issue on the site preventing users from entering dates occurring after "12312005" on status tracking pages. A fix for this issue will be implemented on the Web site on February 5, 2006.
R2T4 is a non-year-specific application developed to calculate the earned and unearned portion of Title IV program assistance in accordance with section 484B of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and its implementing regulations in 34 CFR 668.22. The Web version of R2T4 is accessible through the FAA Main Menu of the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site (fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/faa/faa.jsp).
NOTE: The issue described in this message does not affect the most recent PC software release of R2T4, Version 1.1.2, which is available on the Department's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov.
** Issue **
The R2T4 Web site's Notification Tracking Status screen (accessible by clicking "Student Record Status"on the left navigation menu of the R2T4 home page) tracks student records at various stages in the R2T4 process and enables users to access specific status tracking pages to view, monitor, and update those records quickly.
Individual status tracking pages available to users include the Student Notification, Student Repayment Arrangements - Completed, Student Repayment Arrangement - Not Completed, School Portion of Title IV Funds To Be Returned, School Portion of Title IV Funds Returned, Students with a Post-Withdrawal Disbursement, and Student Records Referred to the Department of Education.
The R2T4 Web site is not accepting entry of dates greater than "12312005" in any date field associated with these individual status tracking pages. This impacts a user's ability to accurately update a student's record status on the Web site.
NOTE: This issue ONLY impacts date fields associated with individual status tracking pages. You can enter 2006 dates normally in other areas of the R2T4 Web site, such as the R2T4 tab of a student's record, and continue to use this Web-based product to perform the required "return calculations."
** Workarounds **
The R2T4 Web site update on February 5, 2006 will resolve this issue, enabling users to enter valid 2006 dates on individual tracking status pages.
Prior to the February 5th fix, R2T4 Web users have two workaround options:
1) Temporarily halt updates to date fields on individual tracking status pages for impacted student records until after February 5, 2006 at which time you will be able to enter dates occurring after 12312005. For example, if you want to enter a January 2006 date in the Date Student Notified field on the Student Notification page, you should wait until February 6th to enter and submit the date on the page.

2) Use the PC software version of R2T4 instead of the R2T4 Web site to perform calculations for your students. Version 1.1.2 can be downloaded from FSAdownload, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov. First install R2T4 Version 1.1 or Version 1.1.1, both of which are also available for download from the FSAdownload Web site, before installing Version 1.1.2.
