Publication Date: January 13, 2006 Author: G. Kay Jacks, General Manager, FSA Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services Summary: Issue Alert: EDExpress for Windows 2006-2007, Release 1.0 Not Allowing Import of Combined ISIR Files Posted on 01-13-2006 The Central Processing System (CPS) has discovered a software issue in EDExpress for Windows 2006-2007, Release 1.0 that prevents users from importing Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) files that result from combining multiple ISIR files in EDconnect. We are currently developing a program file that will resolve this issue for users. ** Issue ** The EDconnect software, used to exchange data with the CPS and other processors through the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG), includes a feature that allows users to combine multiple ISIR files into a single ISIR import file. EDExpress users can utilize this combine feature to avoid importing each ISIR file individually. However, if you attempt to import a combined ISIR file into EDExpress for Windows 2006-2007, Release 1.0, the software will only import the records in the first set (or “batch”) of ISIR records added to the combined file created by EDconnect. Once the import process reaches the second set of records added to the combined file, the software ends the import and generates a “Wrong cycle year in records – must be 7 for the 2006-2007 award year” error message. ** Resolution** We are currently developing a program file for Release 1.0 users to install that will resolve this issue. We will post an additional announcement when the program file is available for download from the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site (located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov/). Until the program file is made available on the FSAdownload Web site, we recommend that you temporarily stop combining ISIR files in EDconnect, and instead import ISIR files individually into EDExpress. To temporarily disable the Combine Files feature in EDconnect, follow these steps: 1) From the main menu in EDconnect, select File, New, Message Class Manager, and then click OK. 2) Clear the “Combine” checkbox for any 2006-2007 ISIR Message Class that has previously been selected. 3) Click Save. Once you have installed the EDExpress for Windows 2006-2007, Release 1.0 program file that resolves this issue, you can return to the Message Class manager in EDconnect and re-select the “Combine” check box for 2006-2007 ISIR files. ** If You Have Questions ** We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. If you have any questions regarding this issue or its resolution, contact CPS/SAIG Technical Support at 800/330-5947 (TDD/TTY 800/511-5806) or by e-mail at CPSSAIG@ed.gov. |
