The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce the posting of the updated 2005-2006 SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text reference guide, dated September 2005. This guide is available in Adobe PDF format on the Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov and on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov.
The SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text reference guide is designed as a stand-alone document as well as a companion to the 2005-2006 EDE Technical Reference. It includes the 2005-2006 SAR Comment Text, the 2005-2006 SAR Acknowledgement Comment Text, and the 2005-2006 ISIR Comment Text.
** Updated Comment Text Clarifies SSA Name/DOB Mismatch Reject Suppression **
The Central Processing System (CPS) is updating 2005-2006 SAR/ISIR comment text to clarify the actions required to suppress CPS rejects for a name or date of birth (DOB) mismatch with the Social Security Administration (SSA).
The updated 2005-2006 SAR/ISIR comment text directs applicants whose name or date or birth rejected during the SSA match, or applicants whose mother's or father's name or date of birth rejected during the SSA match, to confirm the rejected information (if it is correct) by re-entering the data.
The following SAR/ISIR comment codes have been modified by CPS to include the updated language: 016, 017, 040, 051, 060, and 061. The 2005-2006 SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text reference guide includes the updated text for the SAR and ISIR comment codes.
** Updated Comment Text Clarifies Conditional Disability Discharge Tracking System (CDDTS)**
Discharged loan data is now being reported to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) through the Conditional Disability Discharge Tracking System (CDDTS). As a result, comment 137 was updated and comments 139 and 147 were added to provide contact information for eligibility issues regarding discharge of a federal student loan.
** Note to EDExpress Users **
ISIR Comment Codes 16, 17, 40, 51, 60, 61, 137, 139, and 147 will not be updated in EDExpress for Windows 2005-2006. If you are an EDExpress for Windows 2005-2006 user and distribute printed ISIR reports with ISIR Comment Codes to your students, please be aware of the updated information added to these comment codes and advise your students accordingly.
