We are pleased to announce the posting of the draft 2006-2007 Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Technical Reference Record Layouts (including the ISIR Record Layout) and 2006-2007 ISIR Cross-Reference on the U.S. Department of Education's (ED's) Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at http://ifap.ed.gov/IFAPWebApp/currentEDEReferencesYearPag.jsp. Also, the draft technical reference will soon be available for download from ED's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://fsadownload.ed.gov.The EDE Technical Reference provides record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with ED's Application Processing System to process student financial aid applications. The draft record layouts will ultimately become Section 3 of the 2006-2007 EDE Technical Reference. The draft cross-reference will be included in Section 4.
The following layouts are included in this posting:
- EDE Record Level Error Report Import Record Layout
- ISIR Record Description/Data Dictionary
- FAFSA Application Export Record Layout
- Correction Export Record Layout
- Signature Record Export Record Layout
The Cross Reference compares the fields in the 2005-2006 ISIR Record Layout with the fields in the 2006-2007 ISIR Record Layout, and is organized by the 2005-2006 fields.
The 2006-2007 EDE Technical Reference is available in Adobe PDF format only.
To download the draft release of the 2006-2007 EDE Technical Reference from the IFAP Web site:
1) Go to ifap.ed.gov.
2) Click on the "Current Publications" link in the "OTHER VIEWS" section on the left side of the page.
3) Click on the "EDE Technical References" link on the next page.
4) Click on the "By 2006-2007 Award Year" link on the next page.
5) Select the "2006-2007 EDE Technical Reference July 2005 Release" link on the next page.
6) On the next page, right-click on the file you want to download. A pop-up menu appears.
7) If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, select "Save Target As," then choose a folder to which to save the file. If you are using Netscape, select "Save Link As," then choose a folder to which to save the file.
8) After you have saved the file, open it using Adobe Acrobat to view or print the document.
To download the draft release of the 2006-2007 EDE Technical Reference from the FSAdownload Web site:
1) Go to fsadownload.ed.gov.
2) Click on the "Technical References and Guides" link.
3) Scroll down to the "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference" heading on the next page. Under the heading, you will find links to various years. Click on the link for 2006-2007.
4) On the "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference 2006-2007" page, right-click on "Full Download" to download the complete document or choose to download separate component of the technical reference. A pop-up menu appears.
5) If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, select "Save Target As," then choose a folder to which to save the file. If you are using Netscape, select "Save Link As," then choose a folder to which to save the file.
6) After you have saved the file, open it using Adobe Acrobat to view or print the document.
