This position is located in the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA), Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services (ASEDS), School Eligibility Channel (SEC). An Information Technology Specialist working in the IPM Technical Management Branch will have the satisfaction of supporting some critical improvements to the processes and systems devoted to managing important FSA and Department partner relationships. You will join a team with some broad technical management responsibilities; that is dedicated to protecting system assets and resources; maintaining a liaison role with a Virtual Data Center (VDC); managing lifecycle of system resources; developing, maintaining and supporting ancillary services infrastructure (e.g. imaging, work flow); performing database administration; performing data management, quality assurance, and reconciliation activities; managing and supporting the risk model which evaluates school data to determine the probability that Title IV funds are at risk; and providing reports and data to internal and external customers as required. The team is looking for individuals who can contribute certain other experience and skills to strengthen the team as it embarks on future challenges.
The successful candidate will be one who possesses the:
- Ability to translate functional requirements into technical requirements and support the design and implementation of web-based application solutions;
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining WEB-based database systems and ability to use site building and management tools like Homesite, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver, or intranet/internet products like Java, SQL, Cold Fusion, and HTML;
- Skill in user interface, requirements analysis, system design and application development on web-based applications, client/server systems;
- Experience working with Electronic Records Management (ERM), imaging, and document and data management systems;
- Experience monitoring updates to Internet and/or Intranet sites, collecting and analyzing Web site statistics, and providing technical advice to people preparing content for Internet and/or Intranet sites;
- Experience monitoring the functionality, security, and integrity of an Internet and/or Intranet site, and troubleshooting and resolving Internet and/or Intranet technical problems; and
- Knowledge of Federal Student Aid Programs and supporting business practices and systems.
