This position is located in the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA), Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services (ASEDS), Student Aid Awareness and Applicant Services Channel. The area of consideration for this position is "ALL RECRUITING SOURCES" (which includes non-Federal candidates). Vacancy announcement #FSA-2005-0161 is opened concurrently with an area of consideration of "FEDERAL AGENCIES" (status candidates). Major Duties: Collect, manage, report and maintain data. Identify new information sources that are relevant to the needs of the organization and validate and reconcile the data. Perform comparative and historical trend analyses to forecast strategic business issues, analyze key performance metrics, and develop recommendations based on your analysis. Employ data mining methodologies and techniques to extrapolate meaningful trends and patterns and adapt analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to measure and improve program effectiveness.

The candidate's data analysis and interpretation will help define customer product and service needs in a way that focuses the efforts of the organization on what enhancements or changes are required to effectively manage the delivery of student financial aid products and services, while at the same time ensuring that those efforts are aligned to meet the needs of students and their families.

The successful candidates for this position should be thoroughly familiar with data collection, management, reporting and maintenance tools and techniques, and be able to validate and reconcile new data sources as appropriate for use by the organization to fulfill its mission. APCSD is looking for someone with a strong background in data mining methodologies and techniques; someone who can develop the data to perform comparative and trend analyses, extrapolate meaningful trends and patterns, forecast strategic business issues, identify and analyze key performance metrics, and make recommendations to better measure or improve program effectiveness. Some knowledge of FSA programs and systems is preferred.
