This position is located in the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA), Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services (ASEDS) School Eligibility Channel. The area of consideration for this position is "ALL RECRUITING SOURCES" (which includes non-Federal candidates). Major Duties: The Area Case Director is a senior-level position in the Office of Federal Student Aid, Application, School Eligibility and Delivery Services (ASEDS), School Eligibility Channel. The Lead will ensure, through integrated oversight and management improvement services, that more than $12.2 billion dollars in federal loan, work and grant financial assistance reaches approximately 1.5 million students at 1,014 schools in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Indiana, and Idaho each year. The Area Case Director:
- Supervises a total staff of 28 in two offices, San Francisco and Seattle, and implements a program for monitoring and improving institutional compliance with student financial assistance legislation and regulations in accordance with case management policies. Such a program includes conducting on-site reviews; analyzing applications for recertification for Title IV funding, adding aid programs, changing locations, name, etc.; analyzing financial statements and related documents; monitoring escrow accounts; reviewing compliance audits; and, providing technical assistance.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with representatives of widely diverse groups in the financial aid community to ensure that FSA priorities and functions that address community needs in administering the student financial assistance programs are performed correctly.
- Works with the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Justice, and other investigative agencies in collecting and developing materials and data, which may be used in the prosecution of severe violations of program laws and regulations.
The successful candidate for this position should possess outstanding supervisory and management skills to direct the work of the team and outstanding communication skills, tact and diplomacy to effectively pursue enforcement actions and build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, schools, and lending institutions, to foster improvements in Title IV administration. Knowledge of Federal Student Aid program policy and administration is strongly preferred.
