Summary: Incorrect NSLDS Transaction Number on Certain 2005-2006 ISIRs

Posted on 02-10-2005

The CPS has identified a situation in which the NSLDS Transaction Number on certain 2005-2006 ISIRs was incorrectly set to "00." The purpose of the NSLDS Transaction Number is to show the last transaction on which the student's NSLDS data changed and is a signal to the financial aid administrator to review the NSLDS information on a particular transaction.

The problem, which has been fixed as of February 4, 2005, affected only CPS transactions greater than 02 with an updated renewal application eligibility status. Instead of properly incrementing or carrying forward the correct NSLDS Transaction Number for these records, the NSLDS Transaction Number was set to "00." "00" is not a meaningful value and would normally never occur. Therefore, for all 2005-2006 records with a CPS transaction number greater than 02 and which have "00" in ISIR field #282, positions 1760-1761, schools should evaluate the student's record and access the NSLDS Web site for the most current Financial Aid History.
