Summary: Pell Grant Year-to-Date Record Status Update

Since October 2, 2004, we have held all Pell Grant Year-to-Date (YTD) requests received either on the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) web site or via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). Additionally, since this date, we have not sent YTD records for any award year (PGYRxxOP) to schools' SAIG mailboxes.

We took these actions after determining that beginning September 20, 2004 the disbursement sequence number for system-generated negative disbursements and web-generated disbursements had been populated incorrectly on the YTD record. Although accurate disbursement sequence numbers for these records can be viewed on the COD web site, we decided that it was prudent to cease producing and sending YTD records until we resolved the issue.

We have made significant progress towards resolving this issue and expect to resume sending YTD records within the next two weeks. The resolution will include processing and fulfilling all YTD requests that have been held since October 2, 2004. In the meantime, please do not submit any additional requests for this report until we notify schools to do so. If your school needs immediate assistance with acquiring specific data from the YTD record and cannot wait for the YTD issue to be resolved, please contact the COD School Relations Center.

Although we informed schools of the actions we took with the YTD record in the COD Processing Update, we recently learned that some schools were unaware of the issue, its status, and our actions. We apologize for any miscommunication or misunderstanding experienced by schools. Updates related to the resolution of this issue will continue to be posted in the COD Processing Update under the Pell Grant Reports and Data Requests section. This document is available daily on the COD web site and is posted to the IFAP web site every Friday.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused schools. Please be assured that we are working as expeditiously as possible to resolve this issue and begin sending the YTD record again.
