RE: Availability of CPS Test System User Guide for 2005-2006
DATE: November 1, 2004

The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce the posting of the CPS Test System User Guide for 2005-2006. The CPS Test System User Guide describes the CPS Test System, which is designed to allow schools to test electronic application and/or correction data from their systems with the Central Processing System (CPS). The CPS can provide test files of application records and matching ISIRs to be used for testing. As an alternative, schools can submit application and renewal records they have created to match the school's expected results. The CPS Test System will be available the week of November 28, 2004.

Note: Changes may occur to the CPS between the date the 2005-2006 test system is made available and January 1, 2005, the date the 2005-2006 CPS system goes into production. An issues log will be posted to FSAdownload documenting any changes that are made.

The CPS Test System also has demo versions of FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online. The demo sites will be available on November 28, 2004.

The User Guide, along with CPS-provided input and ISIR data for the CPS Test System, is available at the U.S Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.
