RE: 2005-2006 Paper Renewal FAFSA Request Deadline Reminder and Correction to 2005-2006 Renewal Application Data (RAD) Process Guide
DATE: October 28, 2004
We would like to remind all schools requesting 2005-2006 paper Renewal FAFSAs for their students that all renewal application request files from either FAA Access to CPS Online or SAIG must be transmitted and completely received by the Central Processing System (CPS) no later than 5:00 p.m. CT, October 29, 2004.
As a reminder, only students who meet certain criteria are eligible to receive paper Renewal FAFSAs. If you want to request paper Renewal FAFSAs for selected students for 2005-2006, you can only do so for those students who provided a deliverable mailing address on their 2004-2005 renewal eligible application and meet ALL of the following criteria:
* Did not use the Web to file an application or make a correction in 2004-2005, and
* Did not provide a valid e-mail address on their 2004-2005 FAFSA, and
* Are not fifth-year undergraduates or graduate/professional students in 2004-2005.
We are revising pages 2 and 3 of the 2005-2006 Renewal Application Data (RAD) Process Guide to more clearly explain which students are eligible for a paper Renewal FAFSA. The original version implies that a student who filed on the Web and did not supply an e-mail address could get a paper Renewal FAFSA. In reality, students who file on the Web will get a PIN (Personal Identification Number) Mailer and not a paper Renewal FAFSA, even if an e-mail address was not provided.
The updated 2005-2006 RAD Process Guide will soon be available on the Department's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at fsadownload.ed.gov and on the Department's Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site, located at ifap.ed.gov.
