Summary: Full Participant Common Record XML Schema Versions Used for 2003‑2004 and 2004‑2005 Common Record Documents Effective March 14, 2004

The 2004-2005 COD Technical Reference states that, beginning with the implementation of the COD System for the 2004-2005 Award Year, COD will acknowledge any 2003‑2004 or 2004‑2005 Common Record document using the Common Record XML Schema Version 2.0d. Based on recent test results and feedback from the financial aid community, we have determined that it is prudent for COD to continue to acknowledge 2003‑2004 Common Record documents using the Common Record XML Schema Version 2.0c.

Effective when the COD System for the 2004-2005 Award Year starts acknowledging records on March 14, 2004--

  • All 2003-2004 Award Year Common Record documents (both web and system- generated) will continue to be acknowledged using Version 2.0c of the Common Record XML Schema. This means that no school software changes are necessary to utilize a different schema version for 2003‑2004 Common Record documents.
  • All 2004-2005 Award Year Common Record documents (both web and system-generated) will be acknowledged using Version 2.0d of the Common Record XML Schema.
  • If a Common Record document contains data for multiple award years, the document will be acknowledged using the schema version for the latest award year. (For example, if a Common Record document contains both 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 data, the document will be processed and acknowledged using Version 2.0d of the Common Record XML Schema.)

We will update the 2004-2005 COD Technical Reference to reflect the above information on how COD will acknowledge 2003‑2004 and 2004-2005 Common Record documents for Full Participants.
