RE: CPS Reprocessing of Certain 2004-2005 ISIRs
This message contains information regarding two 2004-2005 reprocessing issues. Please read the entire message.
The CPS has determined that in certain circumstances federal school code changes that students made to 2004-2005 Renewal applications and Student Aid Reports (SAR) were not processed correctly. The CPS will reprocess approximately 10,000 affected 2004-2005 records on Tuesday, February 24, 2004. SARs or e-mail notifications will be sent to students. ISIRs will be sent to schools on Tuesday, February 24, 2004.
Reprocessed ISIRs can be identified by the following:
Reprocessed Reason Code (ISIR field #268, positions 1670-1671) will equal “03”
System Generated Indicator (ISIR field #136, positions 602) will equal “Z”
Comment Code 172 will be present in ISIR field #265
System Generated message class: IGSA05OP
In addition, the CPS has determined that the FAFSA Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system incorrectly read the answers to questions 3, 23, 24 and 46 on certain paper FAFSAs processed before January 6, 2004. Question 3 is student’s “Middle Initial,” Question 23 is “What degree or certificate will you be working on during 2004-2005?,” Question 24 is “What will your grade level be when you begin the 2004-2005 school year?,” and Question 46 is months of veterans’ education benefits.
The CPS will reprocess approximately 4,000 2004-2005 records affected by these issues on Wednesday, February 25, 2004. SARs or e-mail notifications will be sent to students. ISIRs will be sent to schools on Wednesday, February 25, 2004.
