"The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce the posting of the 2004-2005 ISIR Guide. The guide is available in PDF format on the Department's Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP)Web site, located at http://IFAP.ed.gov and will soon be available on the Department's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov."

The ISIR Guide is an invaluable reference designed to help Financial Aid Administrators (FAAs) interpret the information contained in electronic Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs) returned to schools by the Central Processing System (CPS).

In addition to an overview of the specific information about the ISIR in general, the guide includes the following appendices: Reject Codes and Reject Reasons, Database Matches and Match Flags, Loan Status Codes and Eligibility Charts, SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text, Correspondence Addresses, Sample ISIR, and Worksheet for Question 35.

To download the ISIR Guide from FSAdownload:

1) Go to http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.
2) Click on the "Technical References and Guides" link.
3) On the next page, click on the "2004-2005" link below the "ISIR Guide" heading.
4) To view and/or print the documents, click on any of the "PDF Format" links.
5) To save the documents, click with your right mouse button on any of the "PDF Format" links and a pop-up menu will appear. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, select "Save Target As…" from the menu, then browse to the folder where you want to save the file. If you are using Netscape, select "Save Link As…" from the menu, then browse to the folder where you want to save the file.
6) Once you have saved the files, open them using Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and/or print the documents.

1) Go to http://IFAP.ed.gov.
2) On the IFAP Web site, look for "OTHER VIEWS" on the left side of the page and click on the "Current Publications" link.
3) On the next page, click on "SAR/ISIR Reference Materials."
4) Then, click on "By 2004-2005 Award Year."
5) Now, click on "A Guide to 2004-2005 ISIRs."
6) To view and/or print the documents, click on any of the links.
