RE: Browsers supported by FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online

Effective January 1, 2004, the FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online sites will no longer be accessible using browser versions lower than version 5.0. This requirement affects both Internet Explorer and Netscape browser versions. We are making this change in order to utilize the latest browser standards which also benefit web users with disabilities.

If you attempt to access FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access to CPS Online with a browser lower than version 5.0 after January 1, 2004, a page will display indicating you need to upgrade your browser. The page displayed lists the browsers we support and provides links to sites where you can download the supported browsers.

If you are currently using a browser below version 5.0, you should upgrade prior to January 1, 2004. Use the following lists to determine which Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers we support. The supported browsers are grouped by type and operating system.

Supported Netscape browsers:

Windows 95 -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2 and 6.2.3

Windows 98 -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 7.01

Windows NT -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 7.01

Windows 2000 -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 7.01

Windows ME -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 7.01

Windows XP (Home and Professional) -- Netscape Navigator 6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3 and 7.01

Windows 95 -- Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.01 SP1 and SP2, 5.5, 5.5 SP1 and SP2

Windows NT -- Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.01 SP1 and SP2, 5.5, 5.5 SP1 and SP2, 6.0, 6.0 SP1

Windows 2000 -- Internet Explorer 5.0, 5.01, 5.01 SP1 and SP2, 5.5, 5.5 SP1 and SP2, 6.0, 6.0 SP1

NOTE: There are browsers other than those listed that will allow you to access the sites. If you choose to use a browser other than one of those listed, the site's pages may not display properly, and you may encounter problems that Customer Service may not be able to resolve.
