RE: Temporary Shutdown of COD 8/15-8/17

In preparation for the retirement of the Recipient Financial Management System (RFMS) and the conversion of Pell Grant data for the 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 award years to the Common Origination and Disbursement System (COD), we anticipate that COD will be unavailable for processing of Pell Grant and Direct Loan records from 6PM (Eastern Time) Friday August 15 until 8AM (Eastern Time) Monday August 18. In addition, during this time the COD Web site (www.cod.ed.gov) will also be unavailable. Schools may continue to send records to the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) but COD will not resume processing records, send responses to schools, or forward funding records to GAPS for funding until Monday August 18. This temporary shutdown is necessary to migrate all RFMS information to COD as was previously announced at http://ifap.ed.gov/eannouncements/0701RFMScloseout.html

Because COD processes records for students who receive both Pell and Direct Loan, there will be some period during this time when the Electronic Master Promissory Note Web site will also be unavailable to Direct Loan borrowers. Every effort is being made to keep the outage of this site to a minimum. Additional information about the period of outage for the EMPN site will be sent in a Direct Loan Bulletin.

If you have any questions about this notice, contact call 1-800-474-7268 or e-mail codsupport@acs-inc.com. Thank you for your continued support as we implement additional functionality into the COD System.
