RE: 2004-2005 EDExpress Sneak Preview: FAA Access Web Interface Replacing Application
Processing Module

The U.S. Department of Education would like to provide advance notice to all EDExpress users of a major upcoming enhancement to the Application Processing module for the 2004-2005 cycle.

In current and past versions of EDExpress, users exchange FAFSA and ISIR correction data with the Central Processing System (CPS) by entering the data in the EDExpress software and then exporting that data in “batches” for transmission via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). For 2004-2005, we are redesigning this process so schools can take advantage of instantaneous, “real-time” CPS processing via the Web.

To achieve this goal, FAFSA and ISIR correction Entry functionality in 2004-2005 EDExpress will be accomplished via an interface with the FAA Access to CPS On-line, utilizing embedded browser technology within the software. You will no longer need to export or transmit FAFSA or ISIR correction data to the CPS; the data will be submitted via the Web interface, and processed results will be returned to your SAIG mailbox.

The Destination Point Administrator (DPA) of the TG number currently used to send and receive FAFSA and ISIR correction data has access to the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site by default. To take advantage of the enhanced Application Processing capabilities in 2004-2005 EDExpress, the DPA will need to enroll FAA staff members who are normally responsible for FAFSA and ISIR correction data entry tasks for the FAA Access to CPS On-line Web site’s services prior to January 2004.

Enrollment for the FAA Access to CPS On-line Web site is accomplished via the SAIG Enrollment Web site, located at http://FSAWebenroll.ed.gov.

The enrollment process is detailed in the steps listed below:

1) Go to the SAIG Enrollment Home Page, located at http://FSAWebenroll.ed.gov, click on the “Enroll for FAA On-Line Access” icon, then click on Next.

2) Enter the TG number that is currently sending and receiving FAFSA and ISIR correction data for your destination point. Click on Next.

3) Enter the Identifier Information for the DPA who is assigned to the TG number that transmits FAFSA and ISIR correction data for your school. Click on Next.

4) Select “Add a new FAA User” from the menu. Click on Next.

5) From the FAA User Service and Cycle Selection screen you can enroll your employee to have the same FAA rights as the DPA (the owner of the TG number, who always has full rights). Click on the Yes button located in the top box where it asks “Do you wish to enroll the new FAA User for all services and cycles with the same access rights as the DPA?” Click on Continue.

NOTE: We recommend that you provide your employees with the same access rights as the DPA; however, it is not required that you do so. For more information on providing to 2004-2005 FAA Online services only, please review the topic “How to enroll an FAA User so they have limited access rights” in the FAQ section on the SAIG Enrollment Web site.

6) Complete the Demographic Information Page for the person you are enrolling. Click on Continue.

NOTE: It is important that you enter a valid e-mail address for the individual you add in this step. Once the enrollment process is successfully completed, the user will receive an e-mail response allowing them to go online and retrieve their PIN. A PIN is required to access the FAA Access to CPS Online Web site.

7) Click on the Open Statements (required) tab on the FAA User Statement Page to print the FAA User Statement. You must complete an FAA User Statement for every employee you grant rights to in step #7 and you must keep the form in your files. After you have successfully printed the FAA User Statement, close the Adobe Acrobat window. This will take you back to the FAA User Statement Page. Click on Continue. This will generate a pop-up box to appear that will ask you if you have successfully printed the FAA User Statement. Click OK to proceed to the next screen.

8) You will now see a screen that says “Receiving Confirmation.” This message signifies that you have successfully added your user. Click on Continue to return to the FAA On-line Access Main Menu. If you have additional users to add, return to step #4 in these procedures and repeat the process.

As noted in step #6 above, please alert users you have added using these procedures that they will be receiving an e-mail that will include a link to a Web site that will allow them to acquire their PIN. The Web site will ask the user to provide the first two letters of their last name, their SSN, and their Date of Birth. If the data is correctly matched, the PIN will be displayed.

The PIN will allow the user to access the FAA Access to CPS On-line Web site (located at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FAA/faa.htm) and utilize the Application Processing functionality in 2004-2005 EDExpress (due for release in January 2004).

Please note the e-mailed PIN Web link can only be accessed one time; if the user does not access the link within 14 days of receipt, it will no longer be accessible, and a paper PIN mailer will be sent to the user instead.

If you have any questions regarding EDExpress, please contact CPS/WAN Technical Support at 800/330-5947 or via e-mail at CPSWAN@NCS.COM.
