SUBJECT: IRS Instructions on How to Request Transcripts of Tax Returns,
Copies of Tax Returns or 1722 Letters

The INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE has informed us they will no longer accept
requests for transcripts of Tax Returns, Copies of Tax Returns, or 1722
Letters through their walk-in offices. These documents are now available
only through a written request or by calling their toll-free number at (800)
829-1040. Attached is an information sheet that may be useful to your
students.
