We are pleased to announce the posting of the most recent version of the 2003-2004 EDE Technical Reference. The April 2003 version is available on the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site, located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.
The 2003-2004 EDE Technical Reference provides programmer specifications and record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the Department's software and Application Systems in order to process student financial aid data. Record layouts are included for the electronic application, correction, duplicate request, ISIR, signature record, School Web Student Signature Hold Information, Federal Data Requests (State Agencies), and Renewal Application and PIN requests. A print sample for the ISIR is also included.
Please refer to the Appendix at the end of the Technical Reference for a summary of the changes that have been made throughout the document.
To view or download the updated documents:
1) Go to http://FSAdownload.ed.gov.
2) Click on the "References & Documents" link on the left side of the page.
3) Scroll down to the "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference" heading. Under the heading are links to various processing cycles. Click on the link for "2003-2004."
4) On the "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference 2003-2004" page, you may select "Full Download" to download the complete document or choose to download separate sections of the technical reference.
5) Click on the PDF Format link next to the section of the document you want to view. If you want to save the file to your hard drive, right-click on the PDF Format link and choose "Save Target As
" (or "Save Link As
," depending on your Web browser). Choose a folder to which to save the file and click "Save."
6) If you have saved the documents to your hard drive, you can open them using Adobe Acrobat Reader to view or print them.
The updated version of the 2003-2004 EDE Technical Reference is also available on the Department's IFAP Web site, located at http://www.ifap.ed.gov. To view or download the updated documents:
1) Go to http://ifap.ed.gov.
2) Under the "OTHER VIEWS" section, on the left side of the page, click on "Current Publications."
3) Scroll down and click on "EDE Technical References"
4) Click on "By 2003-2004 Award Year."
5) Click on "03-04 EDE Technical Reference April 2003 Release."
6) Click on the Attachment/Enclosure that you want to view. If you want to save file to your hard drive, right-click on the file and choose "Save Target As
" (or "Save Link As
," depending on your browser). Choose a folder to which to save the file and click "Save."
7) If you have saved the documents to your hard drive, you can open them using Adobe Acrobat Reader to view or print them.
