RE: COD Full Participant Enrollment Encouraged for 2003-2004 EDExpress Pell Users
NOTE: This is the second in a series of network messages you will be receiving from Federal Student Aid (FSA) over the next few months regarding using EDExpress to process Pell and Direct Loan records as full participants with the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system.
***
FSA encourages all schools, planning to use the upcoming EDExpress Version 9.1 to send Pell award data for the 2003-2004 processing cycle, to enroll with COD as a Full Participant as soon as possible. We understand that many schools will not begin processing 2003-2004 Pell data until June and may be delaying contacting COD to complete the signup process.
However, we strongly encourage you to register as a Full Participant as soon as possible by contacting COD School Relations Center at 800/474-7268 or via e-mail at CODSupport@afsa.com. NOTE: If you send 2003-2004 Pell data to COD via Version 9.1 prior to enrolling as a Full Participant, your Pell data will be rejected by COD. Pell data processing for the 2002-2003 cycle will not be affected.
EDExpress Version 9.1 is currently scheduled for release in mid-April 2003. After completion of your registration process, COD will provide you with school identification data that you needed to set up the Pell module in Version 9.1.
Full Participants in COD are schools that send Pell and/or Direct Loan data to COD in the XML Common Record format (as opposed to using legacy system record layouts). EDExpress Version 9.1 will export Pell and Direct Loan data in XML format and will import COD Response files (formerly known as “acknowledgment” files) in XML format as well.
Your status with COD for 2002-2003 will not be affected by registering as a full-participant for 2003-2004.
