RE: Availability of CPS Test System for 2003-2004
DATE: November 26, 2002

The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce the availability of the CPS Application Processing Test System for 2003-2004. This system will be available to schools and third-party software developers until August 2004.

The CPS Application Processing Test System is designed to provide schools and third-party software developers with a venue for testing their software with the CPS outside the production environment. You may also be interested in testing with CPS if you develop your own software or, are a software development company, supplying schools with software that sends data to and receives data from the CPS.

A test file of application records, available on the website listed below, is provided by the CPS. Users may submit any or all of these records through their software, and may check results using a matching file of ISIR records. In addition, users may create and submit application records themselves. The procedure for testing corrections is slightly different; those users who wish to submit correction records must call CPS/WAN Technical Support to receive test student IDs.

The User Guide, along with CPS-provided input and ISIR data, for the CPS Test System is available at FSAdownload website http://fsadownload.ed.gov in the References and Documentation section.

In previous years, the test system ran for several months and was then discontinued. The 2003-2004 CPS Test System will run continuously until August 2004.
