The Department is pleased to announce the posting of the 2003-2004 EDE Technical Reference on the US Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Download (FSAdownload) Web site (located at http://FSAdownload.ed.gov) and the Department's Information for Financial Aid Professionals Web site (located at IFAP.ed.gov).
This document provides record layouts, required edits, print assistance, and reject messages applicable to electronic FAFSAs, ISIRs, electronic corrections and signature records. This information is intended for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with the Department's software in order to process applications and package student financial aid awards.
The document is posted in PDF format. For a complete listing of SAR and ISIR comment codes, refer to the 2003-2004 SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text document also found on the Department's FSAdownload Web site.
To download this document:
1) Go to FSAdownload.ed.gov.
2) Click on the "References & Documentation" link on the left side of the page.
3) Click on the 2003-2004 link underneath "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference."
4) On the "Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference" page, right click on the "PDF Format" to view a short context menu.
5) If you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer, left click on "Save Target As," then navigate to the folder where you want to save the file. If you're using Netscape, left click on "Save Link As," then navigate to the folder where you wish to save the file.
6) Once the file has been saved, open the saved file in Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print the document.
