Dear Partner:

The US Department of Education and its Operating Partners cordially invite you to attend one of two Electronic Access Conferences being offered this fall. These conferences will be held at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, Florida, November 4-7 and at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 3-6, 2002.

Exciting events are planned to make both conferences challenging and informative. We will provide a variety of sessions focusing on the student life cycle, to include four main areas: Aid Awareness and Application, Eligibility, Disbursement and Repayment. Each of these areas will be a conference track beginning with a capstone general session focusing on the principals/rules. This will be followed by several breakout sessions that touch on the processes and tools. This is a different approach from past conferences where the focus was generally on products and services. Please note that no registration fees are required.

Each conference will offer special outreach services to new aid officers to assist in selecting breakout sessions based on the functions they perform in the financial aid office. Special sessions will also be offered for Tribal Colleges at the Las Vegas conference; for HBCUs in Orlando; and for Hispanic Serving Institutions at both conferences. You might also want to take advantage of the hands-on sessions and PC Lab where staff can assist you in the use of the Department’s "state of the art" financial aid software. And, be sure to visit our exhibit booth where we will showcase the latest information available for schools and students. Knowledgeable staff will be available in the booth to answer questions on a wide range of financial aid topics.

Visit the conference website http://edeworkshop.ncspearson.com for the most current registration, session and agenda information. Please note you may register online for the conference, or download the registration form and fax it to us. If you have questions regarding the registration process, please call Jackie Miller at (319) 339-6542 or send an email to confsuggest@ncs.com.

For your convenience, we have reserved (at special rates) a block of rooms at each conference site. Please contact the hotel directly to reserve your room. You will find pertinent hotel and discounted travel information at the above website.

Please join us at one of these conferences. Get to know ED staff, get directly involved in the latest Title IV electronic initiatives, and provide your valuable input to ED’s future software enhancements. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Kay Jacks
