Summary: FY 2000 Official Cohort Default Rate Notification Letters Mailed to Schools
On September 9, the Department mailed fiscal year (FY) 2000 cohort default rate notification packages. Recipient schools included all domestic and foreign institutions that are eligible to participate in Title IV loan programs and have borrowers that entered repayment on FFEL and DL loans during the current or prior two cohort fiscal years. Packages for schools with rates 10 percent or greater included a hard copy of the loan record detail report (LRDR). As of September 9, schools may also view cohort default rate information on the NSLDS website and/or download their institution’s FY2000 electronic loan record detail report at <https://www.nsldsfap.ed.gov/secure/logon.asp>.
Once a request has been made for the electronic loan record detail report, in either the pre-formatted report format (Report) or data file extract format (Extract), the data is delivered to the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) mailbox associated with the NSLDS user ID that was used to the make the request. EDconnect software is used to download the report from the user’s SAIG mailbox. Therefore, in order to request an electronic loan record detail report, the requestor must have an NSLDS user-ID, a TIVWAN account, and EDconnect software. To obtain additional information, contact NLSDS Customer Service at 1-800-999-8219 or CPS/WAN technical support at 1-800-330-5947.
Please be aware that the Report format of the LRDR is representative of the hardcopy loan record detail report and can be accessed using standard word processing software. The Extract format allows a school to query the cohort default rate data based on the school’s needs. Please refer to General Information Tools, Section 2-6 of the Cohort Default Rate Guide, at <http://ifap.ed.gov/drmaterials/finalcdprg.html>.
